    Are there any DIY projects that could benefit from LiDAR? Ones that you can build with a SBC/Raspberry Pi.

      Props for putting your question in a comment and not the post body!

      The only thing that I can think of right now would be a handheld 3D-Scanner. But I’m not even sure what kind of software would be needed to capture/use the information.

      Could be an alternative security system, recording a 3D point cloud using 2 or more of them setup in opposing sides of a room so it’s constantly recording a 3D model of what’s happening in a space.

      The high bar is something in 3d scanning department but I lack information about software there. Other than that - daytime-agnostic home security cams; night vision cameras for observing pets, zoos and wildlife; undisturbing underwater drones (?).
