The decision, which comes less than one year after the team hired Budenholzer on a five-year deal worth more than $50 million
Ishbia, the billionaire mortgage lender who assumed controlling ownership of the Suns in February 2023, has made coaching changes in each of the three offseasons since he took over. It started with Monty Williams after the 2022-23 campaign, which ended with a second-round playoff defeat. The Suns hired Frank Vogel to lead the bench in 2023-24 but let him go after another slip, a first-round sweep at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Far less surprised by this one than any other coach firing this year, as Budenholzer having 40 locked up for doing absolutely nothing is so insane though.
Will Ishbia be better or worse than former Nets’ owner Prokhorov? I bet on WAAAAAAAAY worse
ishbia has made mistakes but he at least is willing to spend and has done other cool stuff like free broadcasting of games.
At least Prokhorov never flipped lol
This is stunning, but not surprising.
you beat me by a minute! lol
Lol I was still reading about the David Griffin firing when it popped up so I was quick.
Not surprised by this one but still crazy to go through 3 coaches in 3 years. Shoutout to the coaches union for getting these guys guaranteed contracts because there is 0 job security outside of Pop, Kerr, and probably Spo.
Yeah the new owner needs to fire his friend Isiah Thomas too who advised him on these moves.
