I got mcpelauncher but the steam deck controller doesn’t work. It has to be bedrock because my kids play on console. Any ideas?
You could try running the Android version through Waydroid.

I got education edition running this way.

I’ve used it in the past and it does work but required you to own the PlayStore version. Alternatively you could use GeyserMC as a minecraft server to have both Bedrock and Java players on the same server.
