    This doubt has forced market watcher IDC to lower its forecast for smartphone shipments for in 2025, trimming expected growth in the vitally important US market to 1.9 percent from the 3.3 percent predicted earlier.

    I would have honestly expected shipments decline to be a bit more prounced, closer to high single digits. Shipments are different from revenue, as people can switch to cheaper SKUs, but considering smartphones are pretty mature, I would have expected more people to continue using their existing devices.

    Trump doesn’t want Americans to communicate together or with people in other nations so freely or easily. So making phones more expensive and harder to get is the lever to pull on for that.

    If you want to see what Trump wants look at the private prisons and how they treat inmates.

    Trump will follow that lead for citizens. Look at how private prisons mete out media and communications. It will tell you want is coming for citizens.
