I am not a number.
Glad to see that it doesn’t look like Netflix is involved.
Recently did another Plants vs. Zombies run, so I’m gonna throw this one into the mix here.
I haven’t played GTA 5 (or any of the 2D games apart from the GBA release tbh) but as far as dark and gritty goes, I’d say that GTA 4 fills that role for the 3D games, especially the GTA 4 DLC The Lost and Damned. Wouldn’t call them cyberpunk though.
I’m also thinking of SAC 2045, which I’ve tried to like, I’ve even watched it twice now. And I don’t want to drag it down too much because some people did enjoy it and we’re all allowed to enjoy what we want. But I honestly chalk the fact that it felt kinda dumbed down a bit (compared to the OG Stand Alone Complex, that is) and had the USA crammed into it so much to Netflix’s involvement.
Especially ever since the Witcher debacle where the showrunners mentioned intentionally dumbing it down, or hearing about how Netflix strives to make content for people who are browsing on their phones at the same time, I would never 100% trust them with something like Ghost in the Shell.
