Oh my bad.
Oh my bad.
You could always reinstall Windows if something does go wrong. Just create an installer USB as backup.
The reason I switched from Windows is the telemetry. Yes, you can disable it but I don’t know for sure it’s actually off. I’m sure it has other back doors too. It sucks because they had something great with Windows 7 and they ruined it. Also, forcing an online account really pissed me off. I couldn’t even install WSL without using the Microsoft Store. Funny enough, the complaint I remember most about Windows 11 didn’t bother me at all. The start menu being in the center I kinda liked. I remember using an app on Windows 10 to achieve the same thing.
The most recent update ships Plasma 6 I believe.
Have you tried running it with GE-Proton?
If you actually read it you’d know that wasn’t true. My point was Linux is very scalable and what works for me might not be what works for you and vice verca. Use whatever you want, I don’t care. You can use fucking Windows for all I care.
Not all of us use older PC’s. I really don’t care what other people use but I like being on the latest version of whatever software I’m using. Also, I used endeavourOS on a Thinkpad T-420 and didn’t have any issues with running the latest software on that laptop from 2012. I’m not saying you haven’t had issues but it isn’t exactly black or white. Older PC’s are not Linux’s target market. Everything is Linux’s target market. Linux will run on everything from a Pentium II laptop to a $50,000,000 super computer.
The distro sucks anyway. They ship really fucking old packages, even more so than Debian or other stable distros.
Rust is good, rare Ubuntu W. Now stop with the forced use of snaps.
Older games are hit or miss. If we’re talking Steam games prototondb.com is the single best resource. If we’re talking GOG or games installed from CD-ROM or something it may be a bit harder to get working perfectly. Often GOG’s remasters will work great minus controller support. I still can’t get LEGO Island working :( Feel free to DM if you have questions. I’ll try to help best I can.
