  • I only watched the first episode and it didn’t grab me. The whole setup with Skinner publicly announcing a challenge to find him just kept making me think of Willy Wonka. It was a convoluted set up.

The rest of the run time being Great Value Spike Spiegel escaping from prison was so needlessly indulgent. It just went on and on and on. It easily could have been cut down to leave time to actually meet other characters in the first episode more.

Without the action, plot, or visuals especially grabbing me I just didn’t come back.

  • Not particularly. My experience with anime is more or less an outgrowth of what was on Adult Swim back in the 90s. Cowboy Bebop, Evangelion, Hellsing, Outlaw Star, Mobile Suit Gundam and Gundam 8th MS Team, Ghost In the Shell, and Big O are representative of my kind of baseline. I’ve searched out a few anime things since then like Fist Of The North Star, Akira, Paprika and others but I’m not super deep. Cyberpunk settings have always been a fascination of mine so recently I decided to look into both Patlabor and Bubblegum Crisis.
